Plum Skies started the way most unique things do, with an idea that wouldn't go away.
In this case, our founder Sondra Woodard was invited to see the Saints play their opening season game in 2026. The dress code was white. Not one to ever shy away from a proper dress code, she went into action looking for the perfect scarf to complement her white denim jumpsuit. She looked all over New Orleans and all over the internet, to no avail.
When she couldn't find anything in the style or quality that she wanted, she decided to design one herself!
Well, that being said and that being done are two vastly different things! She sketched out the design on a cocktail napkin and went to work!!
What ensued next was nine months of searching for the perfect mill, bringing her artist sons on board (this is truly a family affair!) and working nights and weekends on all things Plum Skies.
The first design
Le Coeur de Ville is a map of New Orleans. The river bends through the middle of it, the wards spread out around it, and the fleur-de-lis sits right at the heart. It is framed by black leather belts and gold chain, because a city like this one deserves a frame worth looking at.
Every scarf is 100% silk twill: heavyweight 17.5mm, with the weight and drape of a luxury silk scarf, printed and sewn in a mill that has produced scarves for 87 years. The edges are rolled and stitched by hand: a detail you feel more than you see, and the mark of a quality silk scarf.
